Fair received 22,000 visitors from 20 Brazilian states and 5 other countries
The atmosphere of satisfaction was widespread among the more than 200 exhibiting brands of Intermach 2019 – International Fair and Congress of Technology, Machines, Equipment, Automation and Services for the Metalworking Industry, held from September 17 to 20, in Joinville, SC. The business estimate should reach BRL 200 million in contracts signed during the fair or contacts initiated at the event and which should be consolidated in the next 12 months. The event brought together automation solutions, machines and equipment, 3D printers, robotics, hydraulic, pneumatic and cutting equipment, tools, handling solutions and services.
The number of visitors exceeded the initial forecast and reached 22,000 people from 20 states and 378 different cities, covering all regions of the country. In addition, visitors from five other countries – Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Mexico and Uruguay – were registered.
The quality of the visitors is evident in the profile identified at the event. 19% are senior executives and 37% hold other managerial positions. The largest visitor group represents the automotive segment, followed by engineering, plastic and casting, and most came in search of new products, with a primary focus on automation solutions and machinery and equipment. According to Richard Spirandelli, director of Messe Brasil, these data confirm the strength of Santa Catarina’s industry segments. “Demand for new products reinforces the fair’s role as a showcase for innovation and technology,” adds Spirandelli.
The visitors’ profile also pleased the exhibitors. Roberto Marques, Zeiss Director, says the company has participated in other editions of the fair and is always surprised by the quality of the visitors, made up of professionals interested in Zeiss technology and applying it in their companies, unlike other fairs who participates. “This is one of Intermach’s brands”, he says. Another highlight is the quality of the region’s industries. “They all apply technology, adding value to their products, which enables them as suppliers to the international market”, he adds.
According to Candido Schonarth, Intermach is an unprecedented event for Joinville, in terms of quality of exhibitors, visitors and competitors. “It is a complete event for customer and supplier interaction, training, competitions and business roundtables. We left with good business prospects after the fair”, he says.
Intermach round should generate 6.75 million in business
The Intermach Business Round brought together buyer and supplier companies in 1,350 business meetings. About 200 professionals attended the event and pointed to the possibility of closing BRL 6.75 million in business, within 12 months. Solutions from 76 suppliers of diverse products and services were offered to 26 buying companies.
Antonio Moura, of Fluipress, Bosch Rexroth’s representative in Brazil, participated in order to shorten the knowledge path of the potential customers’ buying center, which covers the areas of maintenance, engineering and purchasing, as well as identifying the needs of the companies. “We conducted 24 sales interviews and five companies have already shown interest in the portfolio of products and services in the short term”, he emphasizes.
Copel took advantage of the Business Round as a sponsor and with the offer of energy in the free market. “Most of the industries and companies participating in the round are already in the free energy market and this is an opportunity to offer the product and expand its presence in the region”, says Edson Luiz Machio of Copel Energia.
Simultaneous events focused on professionalization
The visit to Intermach was complemented by a series of professional training events through congresses, workshops and seminars. Claudio Franzoi, Siemens’ business development engineer, presented the theme “Network Convergence Scanning” at the 19th Industrial Automation Technical Seminar organized by ISA Curitiba Section. He brought Siemens’ experience with the advent of industrial Internet, the idea of advanced manufacturing and industry 4.0. He pointed out the need to make the right investment and to take advantage of all the legacy of communication that companies have already made. “Today the businessman has a doubt about where to start. The idea is to show that all infrastructure investment already made can be leveraged and continued, bringing the added benefits of network convergence. This ability to integrate data makes it possible to analyze and bring information to the quick decision-making process”, he says.
Carlos Bristotti, senior manager of process planning, maintenance and Lean at BMW, presented the “Production system upgrades for new model integration” at Cintec Mecânica e Automação. “We show what we are doing at Brazil’s Araquari plant in terms of production system upgrades, focused on innovation, efficiency, productivity and flexibility. We have very well defined what to do and how to do it and it was very interesting to share it with the staff. Maybe they can use some of this way of thinking in their companies”, he comments. Cintec had an audience of 450 people.
The Seminar on Metrology, Measurement, Testing and Opportunity, organized by ABIMAQ, highlighted topics relevant to the industry and best practices focused on the reality of Industry 4.0. Danilo Bonassi Lapastini, CEO of Hexagon for Latin America presented the theme “Rethinking Quality in Industry 4.0”. He stressed the need to think more about the quality of the entire process, from engineering to the final product. “There are a lot of low-cost tools on the market and changes happen very fast. Brazil has to evolve, it needs to invest and learn more about the theme, because that is already a reality abroad. We need to evolve to keep up with this process in productivity and pricing”, he warns.
The changes and challenges of the new amendment of NR 12 were presented at the workshop that ABIMAQ held at Intermach. The event was attended by 200 professionals, filling the capacity of the auditorium. Expert Sidney Esteves Peinado pointed out the changes and challenges for the industries. “We show the impacts on manufacturers and users of machinery and equipment, highlighting the reading and interpretation of the regulation, from the point of view of supervision, not the manufacturer and user”, he added.
ABIMAQ, BRDE and Finep also presented the Finep Inovacred 4.0 financing line for innovation and advanced manufacturing. In addition to favorable rates and extended deadlines, the line has a simplified approval mechanism and faster release of funds.
Welding Championship brought together professionals from local companies
Weld Vision, specialized in welding and cutting equipment, held at Intermach the first Weld Vision Welding Championship that brought together professionals from local companies for the competition. The idea was to demonstrate the talent and skill of welders using the latest technologies available on the market. The pairs of registered professionals were evaluated in the real processes MIG/MAG Carbon Steel, TIG Aluminum and Stainless Steel. The competition was evaluated by a Judging Committee composed of members of educational institutions and experienced in the area, following criteria of the American technical standards AWS and ASME.
Weld Vision’s director says that the feeling of competition creates positive synergy and values the welder’s self-esteem, high in nature. “We were able to evaluate the market in relation to the quality of welders and observed a motivation of these professionals for learning, quality and new technologies,” he says.
